What is a Pallet Rack?
Pallet rack systems provide high-capacity warehouse storage for products with high weight capacities. There are many types of pallet racking systems that can fit many inventory and material handling systems, including push back, drive in/ drive thru, carton flow, and more. The system and type of pallet racks you use will depend on your inventory and storage requirements.
Pallet Rack Beams
Pallet rack beams connect into the upright frame on both ends to create a shelf for the pallets to rest upon. Two beams make up one shelf level. Cross beams are available in numerous lengths and capacities.
Teardrop – refers to the upside down tear-shaped punch hole in the upright frame. This design allows a beam-to-frame connection that is more secure.
Structural – instead of using a rivet-and-slot design, structural pallet rack beams are bolted to frames. Beams are made of structural steel, which is more durable and stronger than roll-formed steel. It is a good choice for heavy-duty applications such as pallet racking, where the required capacities are stronger than average uses.
Rivet – boltless design that can be used for general purpose or record storage.
Keystone – uses a locking safety clip to secure the beam and upright and prevent accidental beam uplift.
Pallet Rack Uprights
Pallet rack uprights form the frame for your pallet racks and are connected with the beams that form the shelves.
Teardrop – a beam pin or rivet is used to secure the beam.
Structural – designed with thicker steel to maximize support for heavy loads, constructed with bolts that secure the beam and upright together.
New Style – has angular holes and is usually compatible with old-style beams.
Keystone – solid corners and keystone slots punched in the area of least stress for maximum load capacity. This design protects against metal tearing and reduces secondary stress.

Row Spacers – used to keep the consistent spacing between rows of pallet racks.
Pallet Supports – connects over the pallet racking system to support the bottom of the load and reinforce the entire system.
Column Protectors – used to protect the base of the pallet rack upright frame from forklift damage.
Anchor Bolt – keeps pallet rack uprights stable and anchored to the floor.
Wire Decking for Pallet Racks
Wire decking from industry leading trusted experts – Everything Warehouse has the largest variety of new and used wire decking, ready to be shipped to your home or office.
Flanged/Universal – Used on pallet rack box beams (beams with no inside step), structural rack and selective systems. As its name suggests, flare/universal channel decks can be used on almost any type of pallet rack cross beam.
U Channel Standard – U Channel Standard decks are used on standard pallet rack beams that have a traditional step measuring 1 5/8”. U Channel decks are stronger than flare channel decks, but cannot be used on beams that don’t have an inside step for the support channel.
Inside Waterfall – Used on a pallet rack in applications where the beam face needs to be open for bar-coding or capacity labels. As seen in the image, the waterfall extends down the inside of the beam as opposed to the outer beam face.
